Jazz Performance
Overview
The Minor in Jazz Performance at Illinois State University focuses on the instruction of jazz for musicians who play the saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, keyboard, bass, and percussion.
Point of Pride
The School of Music has more than 20 ensembles, including bands, orchestras, choirs, opera/musical theatre, and specialty ensembles. All are open to any students, regardless of major. (Some require auditions.)

The field of Jazz Performance aims to foster a development of the musical skill and the cultural understanding required to perform jazz.
How to Apply
Application Information
Available only to instrumentalists on the following instruments: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, keyboard, bass, and percussion.
All students pursuing a Minor in Jazz Performance must be accepted into the School of Music by passing a performance audition on the student's primary instrument.
